  • The Detroit Zoo houses a variety of animals, including rhinos, lions, snow monkeys, tigers, zebras, giraffes and apes. It maintains a variety of bird species, such as flamingos, storks, spoonbills, vultures, cranes, barn owls, ostriches and rheas. The zoo s amenities include safety shelters, refreshments, first aid and restrooms, as well as convenience rentals for strollers and wagons. The Detroit Zoo has approximately 125 acres of naturalistic habitat for a variety of animals, including rhinos and lions. It also has various farm animals, including Jersey and Dexter cattle, Toggenburg and Pygmy goats, ponies, sheep, and Vietnamese pigs and chickens. The zoo maintains a butterfly and hummingbird garden that includes a variety of species. In addition, it offers guided tours for students, scout troops and other groups. Additionally, The Detroit Zoo administers several online educational programs. It is operated by the Detroit Zoological Society, which is a nonprofit organization that also operates the Belle Isle Nature Zoo and Bell Isle Aquarium. The Detroit Zoo is located in Royal Oak, Mich.

    I have been to the zoo a couple of times...I think it is a pretty good zoo, especially for kids. It's maintained pretty well and its pretty clean. There is a lot to learn and do for people of all ages. My favorite exhibits are the polar…
